French, Spanish and German Exams

The French, Spanish and German placement exams are offered online. You may take any of these exams online before you attend your PittStart session by following the instructions below. Your scores will be sent to your academic center before you arrive for your PittStart session. If you do not have internet access at home, you may take the exam at your PittStart session during the allotted Placement Exam time frame.

If you plan to take French, German, or Spanish during your freshman year at Pitt, please print your score after taking the online placement test and be sure to bring the score to your advising/registration session during PittStart.

To access the French, Spanish and/or German placement exam:

  1. Click on the URL: http://webcape.byuhtrsc.org?acct=pitt
  2. Enter the Password: panthers1 (all lower case)
  3. Click "Login" button
  4. Click the drop-down menu to select a language (Spanish is the default)
  5. After the language is selected, click the "Begin" button
  6. Upon completion of the required identification fields and the survey, click the "Continue" button to proceed with the test.
