Cart Station Locations By Residence Hall (Open 7am - 3 pm):
|
Once you have found your parking and unloading destination the student should proceed to their residence hall's security desk (located in the main lobby of each building). The security guard will give the student a temporary keycard that will allow the student to access their room. Please remember that the security guard will require you to show photo ID in order to be granted access to your room.
After you have received your temporary keycard, the student should take their cart form to the cart station and check out a wheeled cart that you may use to help transport your belongings to your room. Once you have unloaded your belongings please move your vehicle to the long-term parking location listed on the back of your parking pass.
If you are arriving on Tuesday August 19th, please refer to your Arrival Survival packet materials. Tuesday is officially the first day of Arrival so all instructions outlined in your packet material should be followed. Wheeled carts and wristbands will be available at the cart stations indicated on page three of the Arrival Survival Booklet. A parking pass and cart form were included in the Arrival Survival packet which you received by mail.
After you unload your car and have moved it to long-term parking, your next order of business is to get your Panther Card (Pitt ID) at Panther Central. Panther Central, which is located in the lobby of the Litchfield Towers, will begin printing IDs at 7:30 a.m. each morning. Again, you will need to present a photo ID to receive your Panther Card, which will unlock many services to you at the University of Pittsburgh. It is very important that you make every effort to obtain your Panther Card the day you arrive, as it is your passport to various services on the campus.
Several of the university eateries will be open when you arrive on campus. The university will provide refreshments during PittStart Check-In on Monday morning, as well as a picnic dinner for students on Monday evening. All students attending PittStart will receive $7 in Panther Funds on their student ID for lunch on Tuesday. For students living on campus, an additional $3 of Panther Funds will be provided. Your regular meal plan will be active on Tuesday, August 19th. To take advantage of any of the meals provided, you must use your Panther Card.
Panther Central is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and is located in the lobby of the Litchfield Towers. The friendly staff at Panther Central can assist you with housing, food services, Panther Funds, your Panther Card (Pitt ID) and information about many other university services. If you have not received your Panther Card, it will be necessary for you to visit Panther Central. Panther Cards are issued at Panther Central 7 days a week from 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. You will need a photo ID to obtain your Panther Card.
Parents please note: If you are staying in a local hotel and plan to return to campus for PittStart events after your student has moved in, please utilize the hotel shuttle services. Parking in Oakland may be difficult due to the number of students moving into the university residence halls.
