Q: How long is my PittStart session?
A: The length of your PittStart session is dependent upon the school to which you
were admitted.
For the School of Arts and Sciences, College of Business Administration and School of Nursing, Day One
of the PittStart session is optional. Day One programming will consist of social and informational
sessions, as well as an overnight stay in a university residence hall for students wishing to take
advantage of this option. Day Two of the PittStart session is mandatory for all Arts and Sciences,
Business and Nursing students. Day Two programming begins at 8:30am, is primarily academic in nature and
includes individual registration appointments.
If you are a student in the Swanson School of Engineering, you are required to attend both Day One and Day Two
of your PittStart session. Academic, social and informational programming will be offered on both days.
Q: When will my PittStart session be over?
A: The last item of business at your PittStart session is to register for your fall term
classes on Day Two of the PittStart session.
For all students, registration appointment times are ONLY given out during the PittStart session.
Registration appointments occur between 11:00 am and 7:30 pm on
Day Two of PittStart. Since appointments will not be assigned beforehand, all students must be available
for advisement and enrollment until the end times listed below. Please keep this in mind when making
travel arrangements.
Academic and registration appointments end times:
Arts and Sciences: 7:30 pm
College of Business Administration: 5:30 pm
School of Nursing: 4:00 pm
Swanson School of Engineering: 6:00 pm
Q: Am I required to stay on campus overnight during my PittStart session?
A: You are not required to stay on campus overnight during your PittStart session. If
you live locally and would like to commute to campus for your PittStart session, or you would prefer to
stay with your parents in a hotel, that is up to you. We will be offering various evening activities, so
we hope that you will still participate even if you will not be staying in the residence hall.
If you would like to stay in a university residence hall during your PittStart session, please visit
the "Accommodations" section of the website for additional information.
