Q: When will I receive information concerning my Pitt username and email account?
A: All students who are admitted to the university will receive notification of their
university computer account username and password as well as their university email address approximately
a week after their $300 enrollment fee has been processed. Your university computer account username and
password are your keys to accessing the university's Web portal
(my.pitt.edu), campus computing labs and other technology
resources. Please direct questions concerning email accounts, usernames and passwords and other issues to
the Technology Help Desk at 412 624-HELP [4357] or
helpdesk@pitt.edu.
Q: Is there a Pitt Computer Discount Program?
A: Yes. The University of Pittsburgh has agreements with some of today's leading
computer manufacturers to offer top-quality computers at discounted prices to university students,
faculty and staff. Four manufacturers-Apple, Dell, Lenovo and Gateway- participate in this program. To
see the wide range of equipment available under this program, visit
www.pitt.edu/computer.
Pitt does not endorse any specific vendor or specific equipment; transactions and purchases made
through the program are between the individual and the manufacturer, and do not involve the University of
Pittsburgh. Individuals are encouraged to compare the prices available via the Pitt Personal Purchases
Program with other programs that might be offered by the same manufacturers.
Q: What type of internet connectivity is in place on campus?
A: Pittsburgh campus residence halls are equipped with high-speed Ethernet

Internet 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Wireless PittNet, the university's campus-wide wireless
network service, is available in locations across campus. Wireless PittNet is built upon the strength of
PittNet, making it easy to use, secure and reliable. Connection instructions, a map of coverage locations
and other information is available at
wireless.pitt.edu.
