Welcome to the University of Pittsburgh, Class of 2012!

Your next big step is to begin planning to join us on campus for PittStart, the academic freshman orientation program. At your PittStart session, you will begin the transition to your academic career, plus have the chance to learn a bit more about the university, the campus and all that Pitt has to offer.

Attendance at one summer PittStart session is mandatory for all incoming freshmen. As part of the PittStart program, you will complete placement exams online, meet your academic advisor and register for your fall term classes. In addition to the academic component of PittStart, our goal is for you to get to know other incoming freshmen and the Freshman Peer Counselors (current Pitt students) who will be mentors during your entire enrollment process. We will keep you busy with plenty of fun social and informational events to allow you to become better acquainted with your new home. You also have the opportunity to spend a night on campus in one of our residence halls during your PittStart session.

Your first step in the PittStart program begins with familiarizing yourself with this website, which is designed to tell you all about what to expect when you arrive on campus for your session. Please read thoroughly through every section so you may know your roles and responsibilities as an incoming freshman.
