What is PittStart

Welcome Pitt Parents!

 PittStart

The PittStart program is the academic orientation to the University of Pittsburgh. During PittStart, your child will register for fall term classes and begin the transition to college life. The PittStart program is an opportunity for your student to take charge of his or her academic future. It is the student's responsibility to register for his or her mandatory PittStart session, determine which required and/or optional placement exams he/she must complete and take an active role in the academic, informational and social events that are offered.

For parents, PittStart is an opportunity to become better acquainted with campus, learn more about their student's academic career and meet other Pitt parents. Attendance for parents and other family members is completely optional but encouraged, and requires no pre-registration. If you plan on attending your son or daughter's PittStart session, the parent section of the PittStart website is designed to tell you what to expect prior to arriving and while you are on campus.
